How to Download and Install the SAP Java Connector (JCo)
The SAP Java Connector (JCo) is a development library that enables a Java application to communicate with SAP systems via SAP's RFC protocol. It supports both inbound and outbound RFC communication, as well as various data serialization formats and network protocols. It is a high-performance, multi-platform, and code page-aware middleware that is compatible with different versions of SAP systems.
In this article, we will show you how to download and install the SAP JCo on your Windows or Linux server, and how to configure it for use with the SAP Analytics Cloud agent. This will enable you to connect to SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems via the Cloud Connector.

Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have the following prerequisites:
The Cloud Connector is installed. For more information, see [Installing the Cloud Connector].
The SAP Analytics Cloud agent is installed. For more information, see [Installing SAP Analytics Cloud Agent].
You have a valid SAP user account with access to the [SAP Software Downloads Center], where you can download the SAP JCo.
You have a JDK/JRE 8, 11 or 17 installed on your server. The SAP JCo requires a 64-bit Java VM on a 64-bit platform, or a 32-bit Java VM on a 32-bit platform.
If you are using a Windows server, you have the Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 C/C++ runtime libraries installed on your system. See [SAP Note 2786882] for more details.
Download the SAP JCo
To download the SAP JCo, follow these steps:
Go to the [SAP Software Downloads Center] and log in with your SAP user account.
Search for "Java connector" and select the appropriate version for your operating system. For supported versions, see [SAP Note 2786882]. You can also filter by "SAP JAVA CONNECTOR" in the "Software Product" category.
Download the ZIP file that contains the SDK package of the SAP JCo. The SDK package includes the software, documentation, and examples.
Extract the nested archive variant from the downloaded ZIP file. The nested archive variant is either a ZIP file (for Windows and macOS) or a TGZ file (for Unix) that contains the actual files of the SAP JCo.
Install the SAP JCo
To install the SAP JCo, follow these steps:
Copy the sapjco3.jar and sapjco3.dll files (for Windows) or the sapjco3.jar and libsapjco3.so files (for Linux) from the extracted nested archive into the lib folder of Apache Tomcat. Apache Tomcat is used by the SAP Analytics Cloud agent to run its web applications.
Restart Apache Tomcat to load the new files.
You have successfully installed the SAP JCo on your server. You can now configure the Cloud Connector and create import data connections to SAP BW and ERP systems via the SAP Analytics Cloud agent. For more information, see [Configuring the Cloud Connector] and [Creating Import Data Connections].
